This month, October 2020, is Cybersecurity Awareness month, co-led by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA). Its theme, “Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.” is designed to empower individuals and organizations to own their role in protecting cyberspace. A key message of this theme is “If You Connect IT, Protect It.”  Individuals and organizations working together on protection methods will significantly improve the overall effectiveness of those efforts.

As a member of the New Jersey Cybersecurity & Communications Integration Cell, powersolution.com participates in information sharing as part of the State’s preparedness efforts associated with threat analysis, incident reporting, and best practices.

Each week during October 2020, there are different topics of focus presented by NCSA and CISA:

Week 1: If You Can Connect It, Protect It

Virtually all aspects of our lives involve using Internet-connected devices.  As a result, everyone must assume personal responsibility for their security.

Week 2: Securing Devices at Home and Work

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, more people are working from home. This creates new vulnerabilities associated with blurred lines between personal and professional activities.

Week 3: Securing Internet-Connected Devices in Healthcare

Increased use of technology and telemedicine in healthcare calls for increased vigilance in protection information accessed through Internet-connected healthcare devices.

Week 4: The Future of Connected Devices

There are many positive possibilities associated with technological innovation. Additionally, there are potential pitfalls.  The last week of the month will address how individuals and organizations can make sure that security keeps up with innovation.
