Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ Feb 15, 2015 – In February 2016, powersolution.com joined the New Jersey Innovation Institute’s HealthIT Connections Program.The New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII) is a New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) corporation that applies its intellectual and technological resources to challenges identified by industry partners. powersolution.com was accepted to the program based on its qualification as a growth-stage innovator within the Health IT industry.
The HealthIT Connections Program is a coordinated cluster of innovative companies working together with NJIT/NJII to expand potential customers, strategic partners, and suppliers to strengthen product and services pipelines and accelerate growth.
Industry issues associated with healthcare delivery systems identified by the NJII include:
- Total healthcare spending in the United States makes up the single largest component of U.S. gross domestic product. By eliminating unnecessary administrative activities, inefficiencies, and care that doesn’t improve health, these expenditures can be greatly reduced or eliminated.
- 20% of patients reported that test results or medical records were not sent to the doctor or specialist they visited in time for their appointment. Innovation in electronic healthcare records could eliminate this inefficiency.
- Data within our healthcare systems cannot only be highly personalized, portable and interactive but also secure.
- 50% of adults who accessed healthcare reported problems with care coordination, notification of test results, and communication between their doctors.
The New Jersey Innovation Institute was selected to participate in the Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative, announced by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. NJII will receive up to $49.6 million to help equip clinicians in the New Jersey region with tools, information, and network support needed to improve quality of care, increase patients’ access to information, and spend health care dollars more wisely. Additionally, funding from JP Morgan Chase will allow NJII to grow the Health IT cluster and the capabilities of its NJII Healthcare Delivery Systems iLab.
