Aviation International News (AIN), founded in 1972, is a leading publisher covering business aviation, delivering content through both digital and print media. While some of its 27 computer users work from its New Jersey office, most operate remotely.
AIN partnered with powersolution to transform its unmanaged IT environment into a proactive, expertly managed system, securing, upgrading, and supporting its computer users across the U.S. and overseas.
The Challenge
- Lack of responsiveness and strategic planning from IT vendor.
- Server was running an unsupported operating system and failing multiple times per week.
- Antiquated backup solutions.
- Poor project implementation from previous IT vendor
- Organization was partly moved into Google Cloud, causing data sprawl and data access issues.

Our Approach
Given a state of disarray, persistent server, user downtime, and a high-risk IT security environment, powersolution performed a thorough assessment of AIN’s IT environment, management concerns, and user issues. This produced a targeted action plan, prioritizing near-term items that would minimize downtime, while increasing IT security.
What We Implemented
Implemented vCIO (virtual chief information officer) services
Ongoing near-term and longer-term IT planning, guidance, policy, and management recommendations.
Analysis and recommendations related to current server environment
Determined project options in terms of possible upgrade(s), consolidation, and/or replacement depending on security, business needs, and budget. Created a plan to decommission the failing server
Analysis of backup/recovery methods
Determined options, based on business needs and budget. Implemented an advanced Software-as-aService backup/restore solution for Microsoft 365 email and data
Migrated remaining on-premises data sets into Google Cloud. Organized existing data sets within
Google Cloud and created security groups Eliminated data sprawl and data access issues by migrating and organizing data sets in the Google Cloud
Migrated on-premises accounting software to vendor’s cloud
Further offload of server, achieving operational benefits and cost-effectiveness.
Implemented powersolution’s Secure Global Network (SGN)
Provided approximately 12-layerd of advanced IT security functions for in-office and remote workers, regardless of their location across the U.S. and overseas.
IMMEDIATE BENEFITS OF IT TRANSFORMATION FOR AIN:
AIN regained control of its unmanaged IT environment by leveraging powersolution’s vCIO consulting services. Key priorities were set to reduce IT security risks while minimizing downtime and operational issues through enhanced server, backup/restore, and data management technologies and processes.
